Disappointing loss last night. What else can we say?
Fisher scored (we think partly for Carrie!) and Cullen sank one in the net too. Not bad. And had Regin’s goal been allowed we would have had a one goal game and likely won in overtime.

By the way, one of the best comments on Twitter last night came when the NHL officials were “reviewing” Regin’s goal — a Sens Mile twitter follower said: “We can’t trust Toronto to shovel their own snow, yet we’re going to let them make major calls during the playoffs?!”

Indeed.

Calling all diehard Sens fans: help us celebrate the start of the playoffs by joining us for the ALL IN. ALL RED. car rally from Scotiabank Place to Ottawa City Hall on Sunday, April 18, where Mayor Larry O’Brien will raise the Sens flag at 12:30 p.m.

Show your true colours and decorate your car, fly your car flags and dress up in Sens gear. Participants are asked to arrive at Scotiabank Place on Sunday, April 18, at 10:45 a.m. We will form a convoy that will travel from Scotiabank Place to city hall. The top 30 decorated cars, as determined by a panel of judges, will be given a spot in the convoy and will be guaranteed parking once we reach Ottawa City Hall.* (The car rally will loop down Sens Mile for its final leg — likely around 12:15pm)

The judges will also review each vehicle and award fun Sens prizes to the best-decorated cars. Prizes will include one of three pairs of tickets to a home game in Round 1 for the top three cars!

We’ll let Sid have at least one game during these playoffs — but not many more than that.

The Mile was packed last night — bars, restaurants and (despite the rain) even a few patios were jammed with fans watching the game. Great to see this City rallying behind our NHL team! The place exploded with cheers when Regin scored the first goal of the night!

Last night’s game was a nailbiter and the Sens came out swinging right up to the final seconds of the game. They nearly scored their second – what would have been the winning goal – but Crosby scooped it out just as it was about to cross the goal line. No matter. We stole one in the Mellon and now WE have home ice advantage.

Game 3 should be exciting — let’s be sure to either be down on Sens Mile cheering on the guys or out in the Red Zone in Kanata. Whereever you are celebrating make sure you are loud, decked out and 100% behind the Sens.

GO SENS GO!

Tomorrow we will post a few pictures of the two City Councillors who lead the charge at the City Council table to help us designate Elgin “Sens Mile”.

In the meantime, Sens fans: get a good night’s sleep! We have a team to cheer on to victory and they’ll need us to bring OUR A-Game for Game 2, Friday, on the Sens Mile.

Well the time has arrived — the puck drops tomorrow at 7pm on Round 1 of Sens vs Pens. It’s going to be a great series — and for the record, our money says Sens in 6. We like our odds.

As you have seen and heard on the news, the Sens Mile is ready and waiting to welcome fans to the many amazing bars, restaurants and patios to watch our team storm into Pittsburgh and club some Penguins.

This year, the Mile is operating slightly different. Because it was so successful three years ago, we wanted to harness that energy to do something great and so we have partnered with the Sens Foundation to raise money for their charity of choice, Roger’s House. Businesses who have agreed to give a minimum of $100 for each Sens playoff game night towards this cause have been designated as “Supporters of the Sens Mile”. Give them your business — and know that in doing so you are not only supporting a great team, but a community builder raising money for one of the best charities in Ottawa.

Visit our “Supporters” link for the list of Supporters of the Sens Mile.

Tomorrow: get their early… get yourselves decked in your best Sens gear, rig up your car and let’s bring the playoffs back to Ottawa in true Sens style. Be in the bars, on the patios, in the restaurants and loudly & proudly show some serious Sens pride from the heart of the city.

One final word: let’s save the street partying until Round 4. Round 1 is the time for some momentum building — but confine it to the establishments and the sidewalks for now.

See you on the Sens Mile!
